Instructions continue on developing balance at all of the gaits; teaches the canter, leads, the hand gallop, PLUS lunging, bit and biting, correct equipment fit, double reins and tips on collection.  Slow motion segments are used to explain the canter and leads.

It includes 3 levels of intermediate english horsemanship with the following learning objectives:

English Intermediate Horsemanship Level 1

Do a figure 8 at the walk, sitting trot, and posting trot

Drop and gather stirrups at a walk, sitting trot, and posting trot.

Ride gracefully without irons (stirrups) at a walk, sitting trot and posting trot.

Do a serpentine at a walk, sitting trot and posting trot.


Lunge a horse properly

Explain what a canter is and correct signal to ease a horse into it

Explain  the leads, what they are and the purpose

Properly put a horse into a canter and assume proper position - without bouncing

Can identify the parts of a saddle

English Intermediate Horsemanship Level 2

Demonstrate the correct lead going both ways of the ring

Shorten and lengthen rein at a canter

Do a simple figure 8 witha  simple lead change at a canter

Identify a cross canter

Drop and gather stirrups at a canter

Gracefully ride at a canter without stirrups

Has working knowledge of bits and their purposes

Assemble a bridle and adjust it to properly fit your horse

English Intermediate Horsemanship Level 3

Go from any gait into any other gait while carrying a crop and not interfering with your horse

Do a serpentine correctly at a canter demonstrating simple lead changes

Discuss collection: what it is, how to achieve it, and its purpose

Demonstrate a regular walk, trot, and canter, and a collected walk, trot and canter

Explain the purpose and use of double reins and demonstrate a working knowledge of the same

Extend your horse from a canter into a hand gallop, rise in the saddle, and then return to the canter
